Barcelona Card vs Barcelona Card Express
The Barcelona Card Express is discontinued. It is no longer sold by Barcelona Turisme and has been fully removed from their official shop. This page explains what it was, who it was for, and what to buy now instead.
What the Express used to be
The Barcelona Card Express was the two-day version of the Barcelona Card — transport plus museums, condensed for a short city break. It was cheaper than the 3–5 day standard card and sat neatly between buying a Hola Barcelona transport pass and upgrading to the full museum card.
It was discontinued sometime before 2026. Zero trace of it remains on barcelonacard.com or thisisbarcelona.com — not a “sold out” notice, not a redirect. It’s simply gone.
What to buy instead
The good news: the standard Barcelona Card now starts at 48 hours, which is exactly what the Express used to offer. The effective replacement depends on what you actually want:
If you want 2 days of transport + museum access
Get the Barcelona Card (48h) — €35.10 adult / €24.30 child. Unlimited public transport plus free entry to 25+ museums for two consecutive days. Same concept as the Express, updated product.
If you want museums without transport
Get the Barcelona Card Essential — from €29 (3-day; no 2-day tier). Same 25+ museums and 70+ discounts as the standard card, no transport. Pair with a Hola Barcelona for transport (from €17.77).
If you just need transport
Get the Hola Barcelona Travel Card — from €17.77 online for 2 days. Pure transport, nothing else.

The 48h tier is the closest equivalent to the old Express. It is priced higher than the Express was, but it includes more museums (25+) than the Express offered (15+).
